Be patient with yourself and others who don’t know better…It takes all of these things aligning just right in our lives to get the victory over our vain beliefs. Some people have only experienced one or two of these key needs and therefore can’t conquer their customs or even see a cause for trying.
Remember, who someone truly is not who they are now but who they were, are, and will be. If there’s a difference between who they were and are the result of that’s their choices and those around them before now. Who they will be in the future will be the result of their choices and those of the ones around them now. If you see someone who is not as they should be and could be (who doesn’t know any better as yet) you have the chance to be the person who could help them get there or elsewise you could be the reason they revert to old hurts and heathenways.
It took you passing through many terrors and much trouble to come to see your cherished ways as pagan and put them away. Others have not experienced the same things you needed to wake you from dreaming.
Therefore, be gentle with the sleepers.
But with those who do know better, with the wakeful pagans in the pastorate, with these heathen preachers keeping people sleeping and satisfied with lies and leftovers, with these be harsh. With monsters preying upon innocent people be merciless. With the madness of the times and her evil teachers be a holy terror.
And be mindful of the difference between the sleepers and the savages. The one must not be mistaken for the other nor ever treated like the other.

(Disclaimer for those who will need to apply their own context to the above: a call to be harsh and cruel to lying theologians is no call for physical violence. This should go without saying but alas it’s often easier for people to decide your words mean whatever mean thing they imagine they mean in their own mind…)
