...strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.

Entering the Kingdom is a commitment to an arduous trek, not a short, easy prayer. And hardships are necessary for maturity. See 1 Corinthians 3:12-13.
