I remember back in the beginning of 2012, our pastor of the small church I was attending became very enamored of Rick Warren and went out and purchased his teaching on the 40 days of prayer. Sounds good on the surface and at first I was quite happy to go along with it, partially because I still had some trust in my pastor, though it was starting to ebb away because of some other factors. I had been a Christian for only 2 years. Prior to this, I had been a witch. Yahuah Himself spoke to me in an audible voice of thunder which sounded like it was overhead and answered a prayer I had not spoken out loud having then learned that Satan can listen to what is being said and can make false miracles happen all so you can be lead astray. But I digress. Anyway, part way through the Rick Warren study, I started to get uncomfortable. Some of the stuff I was seeing was quite prevalent in 'New' Age practices and I started to pick up bits and pieces that seemed to go directly against what the scriptures started to say, It was during this time that two videos on YouTube came up. One was about Rick Warren being a heretic (can't remember the name of it now though) and the other was a teaching on Jeremiah 10. I started to question the pastor and the pastor (who has now passed away) would give me answers that didn't seem to align with scripture and he would give me passages that didn't seem to have any relationship with the questions I was asking. The final straw happened when I asked him about Jeremiah 10 and his response was "I hate it when people use that scripture." It was around this time I had my mum come and live with me from out of her 3rd marriage and which was abusive just like her second marriage had been. Her health was also not so good. One time she remembers walking up to the church and heard the pastor saying to his wife "If it wasn't for Sharlane's mum, we would have had her." I didn't hear this myself so cannot vouch 100% if this was said or not. No matter what, on judgement day, the truth will come out. After all that, I left and have had Ruach HaKodesh guiding me since. It's thanks to a friend of mine (
Nathan Lockhart) that I was introduced to Parable of the Vineyard and to Adam and some of the team. I praise Yah that while I was allowed to wander in those years of darkness, and then into some of the light which still had shadows. Like many of us, I am still learning the truth. I may not always get it right but when I know I have err'd, I try to change for that which is better and more pleasing to Yahuah. I know I've come a long way, but there's still a way to go.
