Jacob sent Joseph from the Valley of Hebron, but Hebron isn't a valley. Hmm. The Hebrew for valley (emek) can mean valley, mystery, or heart. Hebron means association. The Father sent the Son from the heart of mystery to check on His brothers.

Joseph's brothers hated him for the same reason that so many gentiles today hate the Jews: the Father's evident favor. This is self defeating. They could have that favor too, if they joined Judah instead of opposing him.
