Quartodecimani

Remember it is the Passover of YHWH. Not Jewish. Not Christian. Not yours. Don’t move it. Don’t change it.

What does it mean to be Quartodecimani?

It means you memorialize the Passover on the 14th day of the 1st month of the Biblical year as the Bible says with no deviation nor diminution…

But it’s ever so slightly more complicated than that.

Doing what Scripture says is just doing what it says. It’s no great feat to accomplish obedience, right?

When nothing is threatening you for it, yes.

But being Quartodecimani is not just keeping the Passover properly. It is doing so in the face of societal and institutional opposition. It is standing true against the trend of compromise and corruption.

Quartodecimism was always staunch opposition to altered tradition.

And today there is more corruption than ever since we are so far removed from the inception of our Calvarian faith.

The first compromise was to decide that Passover is not a day but an event on a day.
That made it portable…transferable.

The next was to decide the Passover on the 14th is Jewish therefore its observance is a Judaizing heresy. And to move it to the Sunday following.

Then came changes to the practices so that the Seder was no longer the center and eventually not even involved at all. A moving away from traditional practice to a new tradition and eventually out with the old entirely.

Thereafter, calulating the Passover not from the 14th day from the new moon but instead from the 1st Sunday following the full moon that falls on or after the vernal equinox.

And in all the Germanic world, it has been further moved from being Passover to Ostern. And in all the English world, changed from Passover to Easter.

In most other Christian lands it retains the name of Passover in one variant or another.

But all compromised and corrupted. All crooked and perverse.

Finally our western Christian traditions captured by the commercial industry run amok with bunnies, peeps, painted eggs, crossbuns, and ham.

How right the Quartodecimani were to withstand the temptation to compromise the first time! How far we are from their time and how far the Passover (and all the other biblical traditions) have strayed from those of The Way.

In our day we not only have the challenge to remember the deeds our Heavenly Father did for us anciently and those His ‘Son’, sent for our sakes, did on our behalf aswell. But we also have the trial of doing so against the tide of society, opposeing the traditions of church and filtering through those of synagogue to to try to find what was true long ago.

If it was true, it is true.

“If it’s new it’s not true. If it’s true it’s not new.”

So as you purge the leven out of your life in preparation, remember those who came before you in The Way. Remember their stance. Remember their struggle. Remember their steadfastness which allowed you to find and follow The Way today.

Honor their sacrifice by being likeminded. Don’t let Rome (church or empire) or any of her children force you or compel you to follow after her fallow faith. Not for comfort. Not for camaraderie. Not for commonality.

Be Quartodecimani.

Remember it is the Passover of YHWH. Not Jewish. Not Christian. Not yours.

Don’t move it. Don’t change it.

And if you’ve received an altered perverted form, purge it from your life and purify your tradition to perform it properly.

You will be hated. You will be misunderstood. You will be accused of heresy and judaizing as all our fathers were. But you will be the only one who has not moved away from the sure foundation of the Scriptures.
