On this date in history, 09/25/1957: United States Army soldiers escort nine black students past a cordon of Arkansas National Guard into all-white Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. #otd #tdih #arkansashistory
Thought for Today: Sunday September 25:
May YHVH surprise you with moments of Grace and Refreshment. May He bring the long-waited breakthrough for you. May He bless you with sudden belly-laughter and watery-eyed joy. May He give you a gift that you least expect. May He inspire you to pray more audaciously than you ever have before. He is with you and for you always!
Ideas for celebrating Yom T'ruah, the Day of Shouting, aka the Feast of Trumpets. ?

It's amazing how quickly and completely we can give our hearts to a significant other, or to a worthy cause greater than ourselves. It's equally amazing how quickly our hearts cease to be invested in those same relationships and causes. There is a way to address this problem, but it requires effort we may not be willing to exert.

A few weeks ago, after home worship, we watched a version of The Pilgrim's Progress, on Youtube. It turned out to be some musical version but everybody was pretty into it. Some things in it seemed like red flags for me but it was kind of vague and I wasn't sure so I didn't bring them up.
Today, however, the kids and I watched the animated version. It was disheartening to see how incredibly anti-Torah it truly was. After stopping the movie to discuss it's misleadings, the kids asked if we could continue watching, despite knowing it's truth. From then, I had to make multiple references to clarify it's misteaching and how it's leading people away from obedience. In the end, the kids decided they liked the musical version better than the animated version. The animated version is rather dark and crude while the musical version kept a very spirit-filled approach and was considerably more vague around the topic of Torah and didn't depict the main character as being quite so easily swayed, as the animated version did.
If you've yet to see The Pilgrims Progress and wish to share it with your family, I highly recommend watching it before you share it with your kids so that you're aware of the poor translation and rather startling scenes. There were a few scenes in the animated which had my 5 and 6 year old's covering their eyes.
