Psalm 23
A psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?”
Romans 9:20 ESV
The "predestination" discussed in the previous chapter is not about determining who is and isn't saved, but what God does with those who have faith in him. He predestines them to become the image of his Son. He does the same with those who are determined to reject him, as in Pharaoh and the reprobates described in Romans 1:24. God didn’t give them over to the lusts of their hearts simply because that suited his plan, but because they willingly exchanged the glory of God for an image of corruptible man.
God makes the righteous more righteous through the operation of his Spirit and Law. He makes the wicked more wicked through the operation of his judgment and his Law.
I have a lot of notes and replies to things I've kept over the years. Something that I have shared quite a bit outside of the comics is a series of questions and verses to answer those questions. Each question and answer builds on each other. I am going to do a comic for each of these questions. This is question #5.
SIDE NOTE: I wish I would have thought to always have Paul talk like this.

You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?”
Romans 9:19 ESV
If God chooses one person to play the antagonist, the fault is already that person’s. God didn’t force him to sin. Pharaoh was chosen for his role because of the kind of man he was. There were thousands of other Egyptians (the same lump of clay) that God could have chosen for that role, but Pharaoh has no right to complain that God chose him instead of someone else, because Pharaoh was determined to play it anyway.

The word revival doesn’t show up in the English language until the fifteenth century and it wasn’t used for religious purposes for almost three hundred years. Prior to the use of revival, repentance and preparation were how we were to approach our Creator. Isaiah 55:6 — 7, “Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked man forsake his own way and the unrighteous man his own thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that He may have compassion, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.”
