Well, I keep forgetting this site exists!! I think it would be nice if we could really get this group going :) What have y'all been up to? For us in SW MO: the June bearing strawberries and asparagus are done. SO THANKFUL because the strawberries were a lot of work this year! Cold weather crops are done. Raspberries are just coming in ... been picking a few 'here and there' all week, but got a handful today. My oldest is harvesting blueberries at his place and the blackberries and elderberries are LOADED. The first zucchinis are ready to harvest ... will wait until later to grab them because it's just too hot right now. Still harvesting beets and kale on-demand. Harvested a bunch of mint at my daughter's last evening ... got it right into the dehydrator last evening and today I have almost a half gallon of mint for tea. I'm hoping to add a little more to it to finish off the half gallon. Beans are in the freeze dryer (just some dry beans from Azure ... been trying to get all of my stash cooked and freeze dried). Hmmm ... what else? I don't know. It's just been too hot and humid here!
We've all been enjoying the new potatoes. I pressure can what we cannot eat "soon" ... today I got a canner load done. PHOTO: my son-in-law and two of my grandchildren harvesting new potatoes in their potato "patch" (patch? field?). He planted corn and beans in between the rows of potatoes.
My daughter-in-law had a baby a few weeks ago ... our [pregnant] milk cow is in the hands of some capable friends for a few months, however my daughter-in-law got back to milking the goats last Sunday. I'm filling up freeze dryer trays with extra goat milk, and that will be next to go into the freeze drying ... never FD goat milk yet, so this is an experiment.
Major re-organizing project still underway in my pantry / storage room. I'm not sure I'll ever have it done, but I'm striving. :D
