This is a very interesting and important question. What are your thoughts on Blair's question?
Can I get peoples feedback on what the true meaning of this command is?
Exo 20:7 “You do not bring the Name of יהוה your Elohim to naught, for יהוה does not leave the one unpunished who brings His Name to naught.

I Am YHVH; that is my Name; My glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.

If you claim to follow Yehovah God, but act in ways that are contrary to him, there is no meaning in you proclaiming his name. The nations will perceive a lawless person who proclaims the name of Yehovah and soils his reputation.
If you say that you follow him, obey him.

Side note: I find it particularly ironic when atheists say the above phrases, since they'll turn around and deny His very existence. Moral of the story: say what you mean and mean what you say!

shô' / shô'âh / shô'âh

Vanity is shav (shaw). Destruction or ruin is shoah (shuah)
When folks pronounce Yeshua as Yahshua they're almost literally taking Yahweh's Name in vain by adding shua to Yah.
