[Levi] who said of his father and mother, 'I regard them not'; he disowned his brothers and ignored his children. For they observed your word and kept your covenant.
Deuteronomy 33:9
This verse speaks of Levi disregarding his own family as a good thing worthy of reward. This is a reference to the day of the golden calf on which men of Levi killed all those who worshiped it, even his own parents, brothers, and children. Compare this to Yeshua's words in Matthew 10:37. Yeshua wasn't saying anyone needs to kill his family, but that anyone who values family over him isn't worthy of him. Whoever values Yeshua over all earthly things is worthy of rewards above and beyond eternal salvation.
