Why did I start this series with the Sabbath? Why have I made 10 comics so far on the subject? Because if we let Scripture interpret Scripture and not read into Scripture our own ideas or things we have been taught, we can see that the Sabbath is really important to God. It is mentioned at Creation. It is the first command God gives Israel to test if they will follow Him after the Exodus. The penalty for not keeping the Sabbath is the same as murdering someone. As mentioned in the comic: in the prophets, God calls the Sabbath, HIS Sabbath several times. Usually in the context of lamenting that His Sabbaths are being profaned, or stating that if anyone keeps His Sabbaths that person will be blessed and His people.
God says that the Sabbath is a sign between Him and His people. (Ex. 20:20, 31:13) I know growing up we were all looking for signs. Not signs between us and God, but signs of the end of the Age. The Mark of the Beast. The start of the Tribulation. The building of the third Temple and so on. This sign however, that Scripture puts a lot of emphasis on, we ignore. One of my earlier comics was a missing poster for the 4th command. Most, if not all, of the Christians I have known through my life would say we are to follow the 10 commandments. Yet, none, including myself for the longest time kept the 4th command.
It is time to put what is important to God to a place of importance of our own lives.
