Are We “Under The Law”?
The short answer to the question is NO… but what law is scripture talking about?
These words must be taken in context in complete harmony of scripture for it to make sense.
The bible is one book, about one God, and one law of love for His one and only bride.
Original biblical languages require the reader to understand the subject and context as it’s being read. We must take off our western lenses and look at scripture through the lens of that time through the Messiah.
God’s bride/Israel is married then divorced:
Jeremiah 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
God has a law for a divorce.
Deuteronomy 24:4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin
(reread 1 John 3:4), because we are not under the law [law of divorce], but under grace? God forbid.
Marriage to the one and only creator of the universe = eternal life. Atheists and those that do not believe in God manifest in Yeshua are not married to the only God that can give them eternal life. Marriage to lesser gods cannot give eternal life like Yehovah can.
Marriages have agreements/rules and those that consent to them are bound to those agreed upon rules until death do they part. Breaking the rules/infidelity = breaching the marriage contract, is grounds for divorce and the offending party is separated and no longer has the liberties and benefits of the marriage contract.
Yehovah will never change His marriage contract (see bible study Law of Love) and He has clearly enumerated in scripture what He desires for His bride and we either agree to those terms that delight Him or not… It's our choice. Agree and follow them out of love and we are blessed and stay married to Him with eternal life. Dont agree and we are cursed, no longer married and we live out our term here on earth in this flesh temple until it expires. Just as Yeshua stated, the law of love is not burdensome… It's LIGHT! If you actually love Him, which one of the commands would you break? Worship another? Steal from your neighbor? Cheat on your spouse? You tell me which one? You get it… it really is love, and it really is easy and you're probably following all or most of the law already out of love (Torah… God’s marriage agreement is what He desires in His bride). The more you learn what He desires and loves, the more you apply it, the more He blesses you and the more He gives you to learn. Don't apply what you learn… and He takes it away. Learn, apply, test… if we fail, He will relearn us to see if we apply and then retest… repeated until we either grow closer or harden our heart.
Any time you see “Under the law” mentioned 12 times in scripture = it has context dealing with being “bound to the current state of marriage liability” married to whom or unmarried based on time and or acceptance… Before and without Yeshua we are bound/under the original marriage contract that was assigned a bill of divorce and cursed to die. Follow this 1611 KJV bible dictionary and look at the definition 11 for the word “under”. www.av1611.com/kjbp/kjv-dictionary/under.html
Accepting that our God/Husband provides for His bride… manifest in the flesh as Yeshua is agreeing to be bound/under the original vows of love that never changed through Yeshua Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not…
These marriage terms were already established G3549 and because He loves us soooo much (John 3:16) they get renewed out of grace in the new marriage mentioned in Hebrews 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant [where we get to see our groom/God manifested in the flesh], which was established[G3549 injoined to the original covenant] upon better promises.
New Testament Grace = God manifest in the flesh and accepted the punishment for the offending party of the original marriage contract to dissolve those bonds or chains where God had given a bill of divorce, so we can come back without being an abomination into the marriage and not die from the separation from divorce.
Romans 7:1-2 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) [the law of divorce (rules and stipulations of the marriage)] how that the law [of divorce] hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? (2) For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
Romans 3:19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law [those who don't except Yeshua]: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. [if you don't accept Yeshua then you are bound by divorce and those people who are divorced will be found guilty and tossed into the lake of fire]
Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you [Because you accept Yeshua]: for ye are not under the law [Law of divorce because you accept Yeshua], but under grace [because God manifest in the flesh died for you to dissolve the law of divorce and now should you accept it, you are under the new marriage/covenant through Yeshua].
Romans 6:15 What then? shall we sin [should we break the original marriage agreement that never changesG3549, now that the first divorce was dissolved are you really trying to get divorced again?
1 John 3:4], because we are not under the law [Law of divorce], but under grace [because God manifest in the flesh died for you to dissolve the law of divorce and renew the original vows]? God forbid [God forbid we break the law of love because He died for us just to get divorced again?].
1 Corinthians 9:20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law [those who don't except Yeshua], as under the law [the law of divorce], that I might gain them that are under the law [those who don't except Yeshua];
1 Corinthians 9:21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law [bound to the new or current marriage contract] to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law [those who haven't accepted Yeshua].
The law(marriage vows) is perfect and good, including its judgment which is a curse to those that do not abide in it. God did not torture a group of people before Yeshua was born with a set of marriage agreements (law of love) to show us they cannot be followed… that would be absurd, cruel and unjust. The law is a marriage vow, then and now. Blessed if you abide, cursed if you don't.
Read Deuteronomy 28.

Psalms 19:7a The law[marriage contract] of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
The Bible is one book and cannot contradict here, it has to have harmony:
Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law [the part where we were bound to the divorce], being made a curse for us[divorce is separation from God and death]: for it is written, Cursed is every one[that breaches the marriage contract] that hangeth on a tree:
Galatians 3:10-12 For as many as are of the works [operating under the divorced marriage]of the law are under the curse[of the divorce]: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them[the new marriage vows are still the same and have already been established G3549]. (11) But that no man is justified by the law [for Yeshua is our only salvation and to love Him is to live with the fidelity of the marriage contract] in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith [fidelity of the marriage]. (12) And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Galatians 3:23 But before faith [accepting Yeshua's hand in this new covenant] came, we were kept under the law [Law of divorce], shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
Galatians 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law [bound to the current marriage contract],
Galatians 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law [Law of divorce] that we might receive the adoption of sons [grafted into the new marriage contract].
Galatians 4:21 Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law [Law of divorce], do ye not hear the law [do you not understand the husband has to die to dissolve the divorce]?
Galatians 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit[God’s Holy Spirit manifest in the flesh of Yeshua], ye are not under the law [if you actually love God with all your heart, mind and soul you’ll understand because the Holy spirit will tell you you are no longer under the Law of divorce through Yeshua].
Galatians 5:1-4 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage [form 613 oral laws and burdensome traditions of the Pharisees and Judaisers]. (2) Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. (3) For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law [speaking of all the 613 oral laws and traditions lumping them together in this context]. (4) Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law [using this religion and traditions of men for men, from men to virtue signal that you are accepted by the Pharisees and Judaisers of that time]; ye are fallen from grace.
Galatians 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmasterG3807.
All of the context for the above is dealing with the unchanging marriage contract.
What is a G3807paidagogos spoken of in Galatians? Pronounced 'pahee-dag-o-gos'. And do we use it or just say we used it to get to Yeshua? Or, is it ok to put the cart before the horse and keep it that way? So why was “paidagogos” used in Greek in the New Testament? Most people don’t know that in Greek culture the paidagogos was a guardian, usually a slave. “Schoolmaster” just does not define the full language, history and context in the original word, paidagogos. The word, paidagogos, is built like this: the Greek word for child is pais – p-a-i-s. And the genitive of it is paidos. The Greek word for “lead” is ago, and the Greek word for “leader” is agogos. And you put the word for pais, paidos, for “child,” with the word for “lead,” and that’s the Greek word paidagogos: “one who leads/instructs a child.” Lead a child to Yeshua? Yes, but a bit more than that. It should not be simplified into one word because it has so much more meaning behind it.
Now, the Greeks made a distinction, a very careful distinction between a pedagogue an “instructor or schoolmaster”, from a ho didaskalos, a “teacher,” and a paidagogos, a “tutor/child leader.” But a tutor? I’ll tell you what it means to the Greek and Romans. A paidagogos was the slave in the household of the Greek and Roman noble families that did many things including taking their child to the school teacher. When you research the Greek tasks of the paidagogos, he has full authority of the father given to the slave, including discipline with a big rod, guidance, guardianship, and care of the child. The child could not step out of the house without that paidagogos with him, he taught the boy everything in life. The child could do nothing without that paidagogos, and the word co-notates someone who is very stern and very severe. For example, in (1 Corinthians 4:15), Paul uses the word paidagogos. And when he uses it there, he makes a distinction between the paidagogoi, the plural, the paidagogos, and the father. As though the father were full of sympathy, wisdom, and understanding with love but the paidagogos (like a marriage contract/Law) were stern, unchangeable, and unmoved, administering the exact rules laid out by the father without change. The rules don't change, but the Father is the only one that can forgive for breaking of the rules/law/contracts. Paidagogos has an extremely deep meaning and is not shallow.
Galatians 3:25 But after that faith [that God will provide a sacrifice to dissolve the divorce] is come, we are no longer under a paidagogos [the unchangeable contract that says once divorced we cannot marry back into His embrace].
This verse does not mean once we are led to Yeshua we forget God’s unchangeable desires because God does not contradict, lie, or change! Faith means you believe with fidelity/love, not in lips but in deed. This verse is very important because we are made in God’s image, and it’s compared to the rules we have when we are children by our parents. The rod that was not spared to enforce the rules mandated of Good parents to provide a good foundation because they love their children and when the children move out as adults, at that point they are no longer “under” or mandated but have the liberty to follow those rules out of love in their hearts and minds to be the people the parents taught them to be. Torah = (paidagogos) to lead/teach what our Husband Yeshua desires to please Him = eternal life.
The Jews, during the time Yeshua walked this earth and loved the one true God and desired to have a relationship with Him were taught the gospel of the good news that the divorce can be dissolved and we can be brought back in without it being an abomination. The only way to be with God now is through God manifest in the flesh Jesus/Yeshua, and by His death to dissolve the state of the first marriage contract, so God can marry us all in the flesh without it being an abomination to Him. We need to do what is right unto God’s delight and an established marriage covenant, regardless of what other people want to tickle their ears with.
Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old [what happened to the first marriage? It was assigned a bill of divorce and needed to be dissolved]. Now that decayeth [bill of divorce] and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. [The law of divorce needed to be squashed by the Husband because we were cursed to die in it, when He manifest in the flesh/Jesus (Romans 7:2) to shed that flesh to stand in our place as a legal and lawful substitute (animals don't qualify and were only a placeholder) for the payment for breaching the first marriage contract. Jesus perfected the High priest position that changed to a permanent position in Him (because He will never die nor need replaced) and He was the last and only valid sacrifice with no need for anymore reminders (animal sacrifices) that the Husband had to come and die to sacrifice Himself for His bride. The prenuptial agreement of LOVE has NOT changed… why? Because God does not change and would not personally manifest in the flesh to rebuke Himself and His own will of love He set in place the first time… both marriages of love are the same]. One God, one law of love, one bride.
God must cross every t and dot every i as He must close the divorce in legal Heavenly fashion and renew the next through Jesus/Yeshua. We can't renew the vows and come back into the embrace until the divorce is dissolved through the shedding of the blood from the flesh Husband/God manifest into. Many Jews then and Christains today still do not understand this biblical legality.
The whole bible is one amazing true life and living romance novel about a God/Husband that desires His bride to live with Him for eternity, when she falls away from Him and He risks His life unto death to bring her back into His embrace… That… is the most beautiful story never told!
