But the land that you are going over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water by the rain from heaven, a land that YHVH your God cares for. The eyes of YHVH your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.

The Land of Israel is very special to God. He thinks about it, watches it, protects it. God's people and God's land are a unit. If the people are faithful to God, the land is good to them. If they are unfaithful, the land is against them.
