When you donate to a congregation or ministry, how important is it for donations to be tax deductable?

The tax code change a few years ago made it pretty irrelevant for the donation to be deductible. On the other side of the coin, being a real organization helps a ton. Renting places and helping people is a lot easier with a real organization.

Based on the question alone, on the basis of tithing, getting it back is redundant to giving it away. Like the Pharisees, what is the point of showing your affection to be secretly rewarded back on paper. What is the point of giving for the sake of receiving? It may be a simple question, but when adding the variables, it's not a light answer to blurt out with little thought.

I think that a person should donate to the ministry that they are benefiting from, regardless of tax deductible status. But if they happen to be tax deductible, I see no problem in taking advantage of it.
