Don't preserve the idols and temples of pagans. Don't admire them. Just destroy them. Whatever historical or artistic value they may appear to hold is more than offset by their spiritual defilement.

Our churches are so thoroughly infected with pagan imagery and practice that we rarely even know it. Do all things God's way, not your way and not the pagan way. Don't carry over your ancestors' pagan traditions into the worship of YHWH. "Conversions" don't justify incorporating paganism into the worship of the true God. God understands how syncretism can be used to make the Church more seeker-friendly, yet he still commanded us not to compromise in this way.
