Okay. So, maybe you are good with fringes. They should be worn. But, when we look at how it has been practiced over the last thousand years, only men have worn them. Is this command just for men?

As I am pointing out in the comic with that scenario, it doesn't make sense that this would be a command for just men. Both men and women have the potential to sin and need reminders. When the command is given, it doesn't say "tell the men only". It does say "tell the sons of Israel", which some will point out. However, Hebrew is a gendered language. Unlike English where we have words that can mean a group of people of no specific gender, like children, Hebrew does not. In this instance, as God is calling the Israelites sons and daughters, if it was to a group of females, it would use a form of "bat" (בת). A group of males would be a form of "ben" (בן). A group of mixed males and females would be a form of "ben" as well. We see this same thing in other gendered languages. In Spanish a group of girls: niñas, boys: niños, and mixed: niños.

Another aspect to consider, is if this is only concerning men, then we would have to go and look at other commands and see when this same phrasing is used. The listing of what is and isn't food starts with this same phrasing. So, does that mean that this listing of food is only for men? If not, why would fringes be only for men?

While looking to what has been done in the past isn't necessarily a bad thing, we have to be careful that we aren't taking those traditions and holding them over what God lays out in His Word. Yeshua warns against this in Mark 7:9: He said to them, “Full well do you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition."
