You shall make yourself tassels on the four corners of the garment with which you cover yourself.

Is the "four corners" of this verse literal? I don't think so. It could mean that tzitziyot (the Hebrew word for these tassels, plural) must be visible from all directions or "all around", just as the "four corners" of the earth isn't literal.
