There is a deep chiasm in Genesis 47:2-20 centered on Jacob's age and framed by Joseph presenting his brothers to Pharaoh at one end and subjugating the people of Egypt to Pharaoh on the other. In between those points are drought, famine, migrations, and blessings.

All of life is a procession of trials and triumphs. The greater the troubles that come your way, the greater the changes that God is trying to work in you and those around you.
