"Look at the design of the Temple and be ashamed of your sins." What does this mean? The Tabernacle is an image of God as well as of the ideal man. How much more must the original in Heaven be an image of God and how Man was originally created to be?

The mystical meaning of the Tabernacle materials, etc, was probably common knowledge at one time. At the very least, it was better known than today. See Ezekiel 43:10-11
