No one grows through ease. It is only through trials that we can become great. See, for example, Noah, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, etc.. They all faced enormous challenges and suffered much in their lives, but it was all orchestrated by YHWH to ensure that they would become the men he needed them to be and so that his plans would play out in history.
