Something which it seems John Piper said - "if we could see into hell for one second, the altars would be filled, and we would be telling people about Christ no matter the cost".
This is, like "the firefighter metaphor", treating hell like a natural disaster rather than the wholly just and measured punishment of God. When the rich man in hell asked Abraham for relief, the first thing Abraham said was to remind him that he was where he should be, and receiving what he should receive.

Those who think of Christ as a talisman against hell (as if against bad luck) would certainly be remiss in not "passing out" Christ. But God punishes no man without reason: they are punished because they know, and have refused the way of life. Christ is not a charm, but God Almighty, the Creator of all, to whom all men should bow, and shall bow, now or in the end.

We should evangelise because people should follow God, not because people should not go to hell.
