If you're always kind and honest, you don't have to worry too much about your words coming back to haunt you.

Unfortunately, all the normal rules of wisdom are turned on their head in a society that is completely backwards. The righteous must constantly guard his tongue and worry that some innocuous statement from decades ago will be used to condemn him.
