Male and female animals

It just dawned on me this morning that when the animals went into the ark with #noah, it was accepted that they went in male and female at a time. This was an assumption on my part all along, but then checking Gen. 1 there is no mention of animals being created as male/female. But they are instructed to multiply.

Does this mean that animals were created male/female from the beginning and only man was created either with a body capable/incapable of procreation on day-6?

If man was however incapable of procreation on #day-6 then v27-28 makes no sense when thinking of human genders traditionally:

"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.'"

Which then begs the question, if the #garden was created after day-6 and day-7 in a new week then where does Gen. 2 fit into the creation timeline?

How do you understand the timeline of #genesis 1 and 2?
