They departed and went into the hills and remained there three days until the pursuers returned, and the pursuers searched all along the way and found nothing.

Three days wait in the hills is another allusion to death and resurrection. Hiding in the hills was like a time of death. After three days, they rose up, crossed the Jordan River, and returned to Joshua (aka Yehoshua, aka Yeshua).
