Why do we tell the truth?

It’s an important question because many in the Messy-anic Movement share truth for the sake of schadenfreude. That is to say, that they do so to delight in the misery of others. Call them Torah Terrorists, people suffering from spiritual PTSD, or just simply men who are monsters…whatever the label, this is a major problem in the Hebrew Roots Movement.

A great many use the truth like a weapon to beat their unsuspecting fellows for their beliefs and behavior they don’t yet know to be wicked. Early converts of this unkind kind of people, are usually very angry at the life of lies they were given, and they are lashing out irrationally at those still trapped in the thing they themselves have escaped. There’s much hurt and sorrow there and it is being heaped upon the unsuspecting and that unhelpfully so, burdened upon those who, like us, need to be healed.

As they say, “Hurt people hurt people.”

Then there are the monsters. The diabolical that delight in the destruction of faith, who seek to tell the truth only to salt the wounded, to sow doubt and despair, grief and ruin.

So why do we tell the truth? Is it to hurt or heal? Are we trying to help or share more horror?
Do we delight in making poor souls miserable, or are we trying to aid them in finding the light?
