Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
Colossians 3:12-13

Since you are now God's chosen with his name on you, you must begin acting in a way that honors that name. Forgiveness is God's desire, so it ought to be our desire as well. God is eager to forgive those who repent, and so we should be too.
