Maybe Im stupid, but the ancients and renasance (sp?) peoples were astouningly smart the way they could track heavenly bodies, know the earth was round, and be able to calculate celestial events. I know much of it was observation and recording, but the calculations require so much time and meticulousness! Just think if the Romans hadnt burned the Alexandria library, how much we would still know! Yes, weve gained knowledge, but so much of the knowledge that was lost we may never regain. Perhaps it was Yahs way of preventing the tower of babel scenario again. But I am in awe of those with stupendous memories, those that just have to read something once and remember it casually. Rote memory doesnt work for me, and I have more trouble woth reading and auditory processing than when I was a kid. Ive lost most of my mathematics abilities, but my teen can read an entire series of novels @ 200 pp per hour and repeat it back verbatim months later. It takes me 5 minutes to comptehend one page and I wont remember it the next day. So all of you who are blessed with high intelligence: keep using it so you don't lose it. I once was a high honors student. Now I fain at the thought of studying 12+ hours per day. I couldnt even read fast enough for my seminary classes. I had to have my then preteen read and only highlight the important parts, which, to her, was almost everything. I know I couldnt keep up a single class of assignments now. True, I just went through a course, but it was geared to the less studious crowd. I could not aim for my master's anymore. I'm sorry for the long rant, but all you homeschooled geniuses need to appreciate what Yah gave you for brains, and parents. Im nearing 50. I havent been in school for 10 years now. I have some of my books, but if I didnt, all that kowledge would ne lost to me...i have to look everything up repeatedly. Thank you Yah for blessing so many with knowledge and good memories!
