Are we similarly ready? The seven brothers and their mother suffered agonizing torment for the Torah. Torment and death, one by one. Dismembered. Scalped. Flayed. And boiled in oil….And all to avoid eating a tiny bit of pork?

How much do we love The Way of YHWH? How much are we willing to suffer to safeguard His Torah?

We don’t face the decision today…but the courage it takes to face such an end is not made in a day. Do we dine on swine to save ourselves from savage slaughter? Dare we break so great a command to keep ourselves from the frying pan?

How many people exclaim, “He knows my heart” while piling ham on their plate?!

He damn well does.

He knows ours, and He knows theirs.

May we prepare today to face such a fate as did our forebears and always have a heart for what Heaven has in mind.
