The word revival doesn’t show up in the English language until the fifteenth century and it wasn’t used for religious purposes for almost three hundred years. Prior to the use of revival, repentance and preparation were how we were to approach our Creator. Isaiah 55:6 — 7, “Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. Let the wicked man forsake his own way and the unrighteous man his own thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that He may have compassion, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.”
