THIS COMING WEEKEND IS SHABBATH HAGADOL!
Shabbat Hagadol is “The Great Sabbath,” the Shabbath just prior to Pesach. The motif for the day is the coming redemption and the advent of Messiah, which will be preceded by the coming of Eliyahu the prophet. The lamb which was selected and set aside for inspection prior to the sacrifice of the Pesach is remembered. The special scripture reading for the day is: Mal’aki 3:4-24
“This is the gate of YHWH, the righteous enter through it! I thank you, for you have answered me, and have become my salvation! The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief corner-stone! This was from YHWH, it is marvelous in our eyes! This is the day YHWH has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! Please YHWH, save us now! Please YHWH, send prosperity now! Blessed is he who comes in the name of YHWH! We shall bless you from the house of YHWH! YHWH is Ěl, and He gave us light! Bind the festival offering with cords to the horns of the altar! You are my Ěl, and I praise you! You are my Elohim, I exalt you! Give thanks to YHWH, for He is excellent! For His mercy is endures forever!”
