Isaac loved Esau for what he could do. Rebekah loved Jacob for no reason other than that he was her son. (Genesis 25:28) Esau was "Isaac's son". Jacob was "Rebekah's son". Having favorites in the family might be a bad idea, but it's going to happen. It's just human nature.
