All a poor man's brothers hate him; how much more do his friends go far from him! He pursues them with words, but does not have them.

This implies that the poor man's brothers are not poor, so that this man is probably poor because of his own actions.

You can't make quality friends by arguing or pleading with them. You have to be a friend to them first.
