Command the people of Israel and say to them, ‘My offering, my food for my food offerings, my pleasing aroma, you shall be careful to offer to me at its appointed time.’
Numbers 28:2

The timing of the sacrifices and holy days is important to God. The terminology can be imprecise, but not the execution, unless there is imprecision built into the command itself. (And that's possible in some cases!)

Food goes both ways. God commands Israel to give him food via the offerings, while he provides food for them in the manna. Not that God needs food in the form of animals and grain. It isn't the material that sustains him, but the worship of his people.
