Reading Job this morning, it dawned on me that twice Satan appears before YHWH amongst the sons of YHWH when they presented themselves before YHWH. This is found in Job 1:6-12 and 2:1-7.
Not once is he kicked out or asked as to why he is present with the other sons.
I always understood that Satan was a created being and therefore came into existence through the will of YHWH, but does this mean that Satan is a son of YHWH and therefore part of the heavenly council?
Does that then also mean that he got his inheritance in Deut 32:8-9 as one of the sons?

In context, the Sons of God are almost assuredly Job, his boys, and other humans who gathered for offering time. Satan is standing alongside God surveying these people and YHVH says "have you considered my servant Job (who is one of the sons of God).
This is just how Genesis 5 details the sons of God and then they are referenced in Genesis 6 as breaking from their calling and mating with the sinners. Remember, the chapters and numbers aren't really there.

The phrase "sons of God" is used exclusively to refer to human beings in the New Testament and is the context of the verses we are discussing. That needs to be our default position. Finding one place where it may not fit should not be our default position.
