PSA for anyone trying to stay away from GMO:

A “smart label” QR code usually means that it’s bioengineered. Hardly ever have I scanned these things and found different. Keep in mind that it said “bioengineering” NOWHERE on the box.

When we were homesteading, it was easier to be self sufficient and by that staying away from GMOs. At present, we are only checking for non-food in products and don't even check for specific e-numbers in products, as we might starve if we exclude those as well.

Saying that, our shopping does consist mostly of basic products so that we then cook our meals from near scratch. BUT we don't check whether the wheat in the flour comes from a non-GMO source for instance.

Monsanto..once it was released, there was no stopping it. If an organic farmer gets contamination from gmo, he has to pay monsanto for not having a contract to grow their seed! Plus, he loses out on years of certification for organic, which is very costly. Its all rigged!
