And you shall say to the people of Israel, 'This shall be my holy anointing oil throughout your generations. It shall not be poured on the body of an ordinary person, and you shall make no other like it in composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you. Whoever compounds any like it or whoever puts any of it on an outsider shall be cut off from his people.'
Exodus 30:31-33
Be cautious with those mail-order "biblical" oils. God said don't make copies of the Tabernacle oil. You won't be getting closer to God by using it. Quite the opposite, in fact.
You shall also make a basin of bronze, with its stand of bronze, for washing. You shall put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and you shall put water in it...
#exodus 30:18
#kitisa
The bronze laver was placed between the bronze altar and the tabernacle. You can't get to the sanctuary without going through the cleansing of the altar and laver. The metaphorical implication of this is that repentance, justification, and a sanctified life are necessary preconditions for a life close to God.
Another thing implied by the laver's placement: Priests and rulers cannot serve God and the people effectively if they are not themselves living sanctified lives.

One last thing I wanted to cover before we moved off of the Name is this theory I keep seeing pop up among believers. That in Revelation 13:18 when John writes in Greek the number for the beast, 666, that it is actually a name to be pronounced. I came across this theory a few years ago when someone sent it to me to get my feedback. It was on a social media network that is no longer around, so I do not have any of the information on it still. However, I do have my rebuttal, as I usually write those out in my Notes app before posting. As it has been a few years, and I have done more studying and research, I've added a few other items into the rebuttal as well.
Before I get into the rebuttal I feel like there is a lot of background I need to share so you know what I am speaking against. The number in Revelation 13:18 that translates to 666 is χξς. The theory is that this is pronounced Cheezus, or by their implication, Jesus. Thus, the Jesus of the Western world is the anti-Christ of the Bible. So, (by this theory) if you are calling on the name Jesus, you are calling on (i.e. worshipping) the anti-Christ. Now you are probably like, "What a minute? Jesus Christ, who told us about the Anti-Christ, is the Anti-Christ? That doesn't make any sense." And you would be right, but let me explain.
Where they are coming from on this is when you start looking into the Bible without the traditions passed on by the church, you find a very different picture of Jesus than what we have been previously taught. Many have come to call this the Greek Jesus and the Hebrew Yeshua. They both represent the same person, but two different viewpoints of what that person did. Essentially one is a lie, and one is the truth. We even see this happening in Scripture while He was doing His ministry. Mark 14:56 - "For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together." While these false witnesses do not reflect Jesus correctly and could be painting an opposite Jesus, or Anti-Christ, there are a lot of problems with this "666 = Jesus" theory.
1. Saying χξς should be pronounced in the way presented doesn't make sense. From my limited understanding of Greek, it needs vowels just like English does. We can see this in other words throughout the Greek New Testament. These three letters are not vowels. Even in transliterated words (non-native Greek words phonetically made out in Greek) they have vowels in them. Look at Revelation 19:1 where John writes out HalleluYah, a Hebrew word. Adding these specific vowel sounds to John's number is solely conjecture.
A sub-point to this is the "chi" letter (χ) isn't a "ch" sound like in "church", nor is the sound replicated fully in English at all. It is more similar to the ח in Hebrew, which is a gutteral "kh" type sound. Like clearing your throat before breathing out an "h". Typically, Hebrew words we use in English that use this letter, such as the first letter of Hanukkah, we just use the H sound. Making the "translation" Heezus. Which in itself defeats the theory as while "ch" and "j" could be similar in sound, "kh" and "j" are not similar at all. Just like in the comic, we can't use English sounds on non-English words and expect to be correct.
A second sub-point on this most of the manuscripts we have of the New Testament are in Greek. We already have what Jesus would be in Greek: Ἰησοῦς, which is nothing like χξς. It sounds more like the Spanish "Jesus" (Hey-Soos) than what we say in English, which is another defeating point in this theory. It is basing it on the fact that the English world calls Jesus, Jesus. It doesn't take into any considerations of other languages and how they pronounce this name. According to Babbel.com, Chinese is the number one language in the world with 1.3 billion native speakers. Compare that to the 373 million native English speakers. In Chinese, they say "Yeh Su". Again, nothing like the English pronunciation.
2. Before pointing out χξς, John says three times: ἀριθμὸς which means number. He tells us right there he is trying to write out a number. Yes, other places he wrote out different words for numbers. But to ignore the fact John says “this is a number” three times causes concern.
3. Scripture defines Scripture and we cannot read it in a bubble. I feel this theory is reading Revelation in a bubble. We have defined in Torah signs on the right hand and the forehead. — Exodus 13:9 And it shall be to you as a sign on your hand and as a memorial between your eyes, that the law of the LORD may be in your mouth. Deut. 6:8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. — The context of these verses are actions and thoughts, the person’s character. Just like the previous comic on the Name, anytime “name” is mentioned it is usually talking about someone’s character rather than a verbal label assigned to someone.
4. My last point is a bit anecdotal, but if this theory is true, we are all in trouble because I do not know one person who now knows Jesus' real name is Yeshua, that didn't first call him Jesus. — Revelation 20:4 They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. — So if using the name Jesus is the mark of the beast/worshipping the beast, then we all have done that already and are doomed, so what is the point?
If you come across this theory, please keep these things in mind and even share with whomever is presenting it. I've never got a response back from anyone that has come to me with this that I have given any of these points to. Either their hearts are hard and they won't listen, or they are going back and praying and researching more. I truly hope it is the latter.

I was traveling yesterday and saw a woman who wasn't listening very well to those around her. It started to make me think about the dangers we can all face if we don't hear important information or advice. In fact, our entire culture is in danger for not hearing the instruction of the Creator. https://archive.aweber.com/awlist6425868/P9PB.

Thought for Today: Monday March 06:
When YHVH does not give you any special guidance, then stay where you are. Concentrate on doing everyday tasks in awareness of His Presence with you. The joy of His Presence will shine on you, as you do everything for Him. Thus, you invite Him into every aspect of your life. Through collaborating with Elohiym in all things, you allow His Life to merge with yours. This is the secret not only for joyful living, but also for victorious living. He designed you to depend on Him every moment of your life, recognizing that apart from Him, you can do nothing. Be thankful for quiet days, when nothing special seems to be happening. Instead of being bored by lack of action, use times of routine to seek His Face. Although this is an invisible transaction, it speaks volume in the spiritual realms. Moreover, you are richly blessed when you walk trustingly with Him through every routine of your day.
SERIES I --- THE NATION UNITES --- LESSON 16
SAUL REJECTED
SOMETHING BETTER THAN SACRIFICE
From 1 Samuel 15
One day Samuel presented King Saul with orders from Adonai. ‘You are king because Adonai anointed you,’ he said. ‘Now He has special work for you. Destroy the nation of Amalek completely, for it must be punished for waylaying the Israelites as they came from Egypt. You must destroy all that the Amalekites have; every person, sheep, ox, camel and donkey. Saul gathered his army at Telaim, with about two hundred thousand men plus ten thousand men of Judah. As he came near the city of the Amalekites, he set up an ambush in the valley. Saul sent word to the Kenites, who lived among the Amalekites. ‘Move away from the Amalekites so we do not destroy you with them, for you were kind to the people of Israel when they came from Egypt.’ The Kenites listened to Saul and moved away immediately. From Havilah to Shur, east of Egypt, Saul cut down the Amalekites. He killed them all except King Agag, whom he captured and thus Saul disobeyed Adonai. Saul also disobeyed Adonai’s orders to destroy all their animals. Instead, he kept the best sheep, oxen and lambs and destroyed the others. Then Adonai told Samuel what had happened. ‘I’m sorry that I made Saul king, for he will not obey Me,’ Adonai said. Samuel was so upset when he heard what Adonai said that he cried out to Him all through the night. Early the next morning Samuel arose and went to search for Saul. ‘He went to Carmel earlier and built a monument to himself, someone told Samuel. Then he went down to Gilgal.’ Samuel kept searching until he found Saul. ‘I did exactly what Adonai said,’ Saul told Samuel when they met. ‘Is that so?’ said Samuel. ‘Then what is all the bleating of sheep and lowing of oxen that I hear?’ ‘Oh, those?’ Saul answered. ‘Those are just a few choice animals that my men brought here to sacrifice to Adonai. But we destroyed all the other animals.’ ‘Let me tell you what Adonai said about you last night!’ Samuel said. ‘Tell me!’ Saul asked anxiously. ‘When you were a nobody, Adonai made you king of Israel,’ said Samuel. ‘He gave you a job to do, telling you to destroy the Amalekites completely. Why didn’t you do as Adonai told you? Why did you steal the spoils and do what Adonai told you not to do?’ ‘But I did obey Adonai,’ Saul protested. ‘I went against the enemy as YHVH ordered. I killed everyone except King Agag. And I kept the spoils only because my men insisted that I keep them to sacrifice to Adonai at Gilgal.’ ‘Did you think your sacrifices would please Adonai as much as your obedience?’ Samuel asked. ‘It is much better to obey Him than to sacrifice. It is better to listen than to give Him the fat of rams. Rebellion is as bad as sorcery and stubbornness is as bad as sin and idolatry. Since you have rejected Him as Adonai, He has rejected you as king.’ ‘I have sinned!’ Saul confessed. ‘I have disobeyed Adonai and you, but only because I was afraid of my people and listened to them. Forgive me and go with me to worship Adonai.’ ‘No, I will not go with you,’ Samuel answered. ‘You have rejected Adonai’s Word, so He has already rejected you as king of Israel.’ As Samuel turned to leave, Saul clutched at his robe to keep him there and tore it. ‘Adonai has torn your kingdom from you today and has given it to a better man than you,’ said Samuel. ‘Adonai will not lie to you or change His mind about this.’ ‘I have sinned!’ Saul cried out again. ‘But show me some honour before my people and their leaders by going with me to worship Adonai.’ Then Samuel agreed and went with him. But when they arrived at the place of worship, Samuel had a surprise for Saul. ‘Bring King Agag to me!’ Samuel ordered. King Agag was cheerful when he came before Samuel, for he thought that he was safe now. ‘Surely the bitterness of death has passed by me,’ King Agag said. ‘No!’ said Samuel. ‘With your sword you have made many mothers childless. Now your own mother will be childless.’ Then Samuel cut Agag into pieces before Adonai at Gilgal. When Samuel left Gilgal, he went to Ramah and Saul returned home to Gibeah. Never again did Samuel see Saul until the day Samuel died, but he continued grieving for Saul. And Adonai continued to be sorry that He had made Saul king over Israel.”
COMMENTARY
SAUL’S KINGDOM
The king was supposed to lead YHVH’s people in His ways. But King Saul disobeyed YHVH by keeping some sheep, oxen and lambs which had belonged to the enemy. [You have rejected the Word of Adonai,] Samuel said angrily to Saul, [and Adonai has rejected you as king over Israel.] When Saul became king, the Israelite tribes united their fighting power behind a single leader for the first time in years. He established a capital at Gibeah and began to train an army. His soldiers had few weapons, but they managed to do together what the tribes alone could not do. Saul focused most of his strength against the Philistines, Israel’s most dangerous enemy. He did not end the Philistine threat; conflict continued throughout his reign; but battles such as those at Michmash and the Valley of Elab gradually broke the Philistines’ grip of power. The army forced them out of Israelite hill country and back to the coastal plain. The king also succeeded in pushing other enemies back to their traditional borders. These battles gave Israel control over five areas. Asher in the north extended down through the mountains of Galilee. Just south of this was the wide plain of Jezreel. Between Jezreel and the capital city were the wooded hills of Ephraim, where so many battles took place. Territory belonging to the tribes of Benjamin and Judah formed the southernmost region. Across the Jordan was the last area, the long strip of land called Gilead. Small areas in foreign control remained scattered throughout the country, but Saul ended the chaos of earlier years. Land where the Israelites lived was clearly under their control. Later kings used this as a foundation to make Israel even stronger.
