At that time Joshua built an altar to YHWH, the God of Israel, on Mount Ebal, just as Moses the servant of had commanded the people of Israel, as it is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, “an altar of uncut stones, upon which no man has wielded an iron tool.” And they offered on it burnt offerings to YHWH and sacrificed peace offerings.
Joshua 8:30-31
Joshua had already given God what was required. The sacrifices he offered were more than required. It never hurts to give God more than what he asks.

A #chiasm in #deuteronomy 26:1-2 is centered on the firstfuits offering and bracketed by gratitude toward the God who made the offering possible.
.When you come into the land
...YHWH gave you
.....You have taken the land
.......Firstfruit of the ground
.....You harvest the land
...YHWH is giving you
.Take to the place in the land
This passage is also the first part of an overlapping parallelism that extends through v4:
.v1-2 - When you come in
...Firstfruits in a basket
......Go to the place YHWH will put his name
.v3-4 - I have come in
...Priest takes the basket
......Set the basket before the altar of YHWH

Proverbs 27:7 TLV
People who think they are enough or have enough give up trying and they miss out on many good things in life. Ambition is just another word for motivation, and a little deprivation and hardship will motivate someone to improve himself, work harder.
This can be interpreted in the opposite direction also. If your heart and life are full of healthy, fulfilling relationships and activities, it is harder for temptations to find a hold on you. It's not enough to avoid things that bring temptation. You need to fill those gaps with things that bring true happiness.
