In #deuteronomy 17:14, God told Israel that they could have a king if they wanted. Contrast this with Samuel's disgust when Israel demanded that he give them a king a few hundred years later. The problem wasn't that they wanted a king, but their reasons for wanting one. They didn't trust God. They feared the kings and armies of their neighbors and thought they needed their own to be secure.
It's not a sin to want a king. In fact, we're supposed to want a king, but the king we should want is #yeshua (aka #jesus), not Saul, and not even David.
Baptism questions, Can the answer to any of these be supported with scripture?
Can one baptise themselves? Are witnesses a requirement? What qualifies a witness? Can you be your own witness? Can the earth be called on as a witness? Full immersion? Backyard pool or Living water? What qualifies something as Living water? Recitals or prayers?
…So you shall purge the evil from Israel.
Deuteronomy 17:12 #shoftim
Compassion is not always a virtue. Sometimes compassion for the individual is hatred for the community. Per #torah, disobeying the ruling of the high court is declaring oneself to be above the law, and the punishment is death. Rabbis say that this rule only applies to lower judges who ignore the higher court's ruling. From the context, this seems plausible, but I'm not totally convinced.
