Deuteronomy 18:3
What is special about the shoulder, cheeks, and stomach of a sacrificial animal, that they should be singled out as especially belonging to the priests? As with so many other mysteries in Torah, nobody really knows.
The Levitical priests, all the tribe of Levi, shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel. They shall eat the LORD's food offerings as their inheritance.
Deuteronomy 18:1
Levites are objects of charity because they were given no tribal lands in Israel. Landlessness is a kind of poverty in #torah. Service to God and people is the inheritance of the Levites, but by itself, that won't feed and clothe a family, so God commanded the people to take some of what they owe to him and give it to the Levites.
Over 10 years ago, I became debilitatingly ill without any leads to what was going on.

A king (and by extension, all leaders) should make a habit of continually reading and studying Torah throughout his life. Continually studying and *keeping* Torah cultivates humility and a fear of God, vital qualities in a leader.

God placed some limitations on the authority of a king. He's not allowed to...
-Rely on military strength or alliances for security. There's nothing wrong with a strong military or being friendly with neighboring nations, but God is our true defense.
-Use his office for personal enriching himself at the expense of the people, whether in gold, women, property, or anything else. There's nothing wrong with wealth or even in using your position to earn it. The problem is in abusing your position. No bribes, unjust taxes, property confiscations, or other perversions of justice.
All leaders need to remember that they exist for the sake of their people and their mission, never the other way around.
