I communicate often with several brothers in Brazil that are warriors for Torah, patriarchy, and the restoration of kol Israel. One of their tools is to find good youtubes and subtitle them in Portuguese. Here is on they shared with me... i can't find original, but it is in English...

well worth 17 minutes... minor quibbles with a few things the narrator says, but overall, expresses well why this is so important.

I have always thought that this was one of the strangest commands from God to his prophets. Thing is, are we also willing to do the same, should God give us a command that is strange?

Who would turn Abraham, Jacob, Caleb, Gideon, and David away from being an elder in their local fellowship? Who would prevent them from even coming in the door?

Keeping it simple for the first question, I would. For the second, I wouldn't. However their are some technicalities regarding Abraham that would not disqualify him potentially and it sort of depends on when in their life we're hypothetically receiving them. In the Resurrection they are neither married nor given in marriage, so at that point there wouldn't be any restrictions whatsoever in my understanding.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Elder is a position one becomes purely as you age and gain wisdom from life experiences, etc. Deacon and Bishop are postions you're appointed after passing certain prerequisites. I have not personally seen a passage that gives a requirement for being an Elder....merely that they were one.
