Praying for the forgiveness of other believers???

1 John 5:16 "If anyone sees his brother committing a sin that does not lead to death, he will pray and ask and God will for him give life to those whose sin is not leading to death. There is a sin that leads to death; I do not say that one should pray for this."

❌I do not believe this is in relation to the Roman Catholic belief of praying for those in Purgatory.

✔ I do know that Priests could do a sacrifice for the community and Job did sacrifices for his children.

I was taught that outside of sacrifices, asking for foregiveness was only possible if a person asked with sincerity themself?

What are your thoughts on this?

I think Yechezq'el (Ezekiel) puts it quite plainly: Ezek 18:20 “The being who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the crookedness of the father, nor the father bear the crookedness of the son. The righteousness of the righteous is upon himself, and the wrongness of the wrong is upon himself. (The Scriptures 2009)

I believe the prayer that is being talked about in 1 John is the same type of prayer your momma does for you. Is she asking for forgiveness of your sins for you, possibly, but the point of the prayer is praying FOR that person. FOR in the sense of bringing their name before the Father and asking His help in the situation.

Not FOR in the sense of praying IN PLACE of them. They still have to make their own decision and repent.

When I think of a sin leading to death, I think of a sin for which God has already prescribed the death penalty. We are not to pray for that person to not be put to death.

Are demons saved?

1 John 4:15 says:

"Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God."

Then in Mark 1:23-24 we read the demons crying that Yeshua is the Holy One of God:

"Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, saying, 'What business do You have with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!'"

How do you bring these verses together for an unbeliever?

I would point them to James 2 - I feel it comes from different mindsets. Greek vs. Hebrew specifically. We see as confessing and believing as just that, because that is how our thoughts and our language are.

We don't see the actions behind it, like a Hebrew thinker would. Moses didn't believe YHWH when he struck the rock as YHWH told him afterward. Was it something mental, knowledge, faith that Moses lacked? No, it was actions. He didn't follow through with what he knew he was supposed to do.

I added believe as it is commonly thrown in there as well, but if we look at confess, we have the same issue. I can confess all day long that Yeshua is my Savior, but if I then go and oppress the poor, murder, steal, etc... what is my confession if not a falsehood?

I've decided to shut down the shop/business portion of our website. The shop doesn't make enough to justify the loads of extra tax work we have to do with the state.

No biggie, I knew that I wasn't able to put enough time towards drumming up business. So we're gonna stick with what we like to do best:

making worship music!

Thats sad to hear. Is it because you don't currently run it under a registered business and therefore have additional personal taxes?

God is the ultimate cause of everything, both good and evil. The only thing truly certain in all the universe is Adonai. There is no greater object of devotion and study. All people are imperfect. Only God is flawless and unfailing.
Hosea 6:1-4

Thinking on that, does Father `cause` evil or `permit` it?

Also, is punishment evil or is it only our perception of the punishment; as punishment is meant for correction out of love?

Isaiah 45:7 (NIV):
"I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things."

Amos 3:6b (NIV):
"Does disaster come to a city, unless the Lord has done it?"

Job 2:10b (NIV):
"Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?"

Lamentations 3:38 (NIV):
"Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that both calamities and good things come?"

Parsha #metsora (Lev 14-15) demonstrates that tumah (spiritual uncleanness) is not the same as sinfulness. Most people will probably be unclean most of the time through routine contact with death, sex, menstruation, etc. Sometimes even keeping God's commandments will make a person unclean. "Be fruitful and multiply" is a mitzvah (commandment), but obedience makes you unclean. #metzora #torah

Amein! Similar words to what I'm using in our upcoming study for Shabbat. Praise YAH!

A chiastic structure in #leviticus 15 indicates that v2-3 are probably addressing male sexual function, and not just any kind of bodily discharge. There are at least two chiastic structures in this chapter centered on the transmission of uncleanness from people to things, things to people, and people to people. #metzora

“Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God! For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head.

They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.

They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.””

Biblical "uncleanness" (tumah) isn't necessarily caused by sin, but by a loss of life force (nephesh behemah). The greater the loss of nephesh behemah, the greater the resulting tumah. A dead human is more tamei than a dead animal because a greater level of nephesh behemah has been lost. Unclean spirits might be "unclean" because they possess negative life force.
