This is a quote from Aaron shust in referance to this song.
STORY BEHIND THE SONG
"The Hebrew word "Shaddai" is usually translated "Almighty" in English and may have its roots in the ancient Akkadian word for "mountain". The image of a mountain is strong and immovable. Even so, the Bible says, "the mountains melt like wax at the presence of the LORD." (Ps 97:5)"
"Therefore, El Shaddai, or "God Almighty", could possibly mean "God of the Mountain". According to Psalm 91, whoever dwells in the shelter of the Almighty God will rest in the protection of His shadow. Our Heavenly Father is all-together mighty. Everything else in creation bows to Him, no contest. It's in HIM that we place all our trust. "
The word that is translated to almighty in hebrew is שדי shaddee. Sounds close to shaddai. Shabbat shalom everyone
And Solomon said, “If he will show himself a worthy man, not one of his hairs shall fall to the earth, but if wickedness is found in him, he shall die.”
1 Kings 1:52 #leadership
Solomon began his reign not by killing his rivals, but by showing them mercy. For the most part, he allowed them to prove their character before acting against them. Whatever his faults, Solomon was a great and wise leader.
David summoned representatives of the priesthood, the prophets, and the royal guard to ensure that Solomon had the support of legitimate members of all the most important bodies of government in Israel. David named his successor, the legitimate high priest anointed him, and the general of Israel's armies ensured that the new king's position was secure.
God chooses rulers, but men must also choose them by acknowledging, supporting, submitting to them as they submit to God and to his commandments.
1 Kings 1:32
Adonijah and Solomon both wanted to be king. What was the difference to the people?
In 1 Kings 1, Adonijah exalted himself. Contrast him to Abraham, David, and even his own son, Absalom. One made himself a king, the other made himself a servant. People are the true earthly power base of any regime. Adonijah tried to impose his rule from above. Solomon went to the people. Big difference.
