Why were firstborn infants only counted after 30 days old in Numbers 3? Possibly due to infant mortality rates, but I don't think so. Nor do I think it has anything to do with "personhood". Maybe it was because God had not yet delegated authority to the parents. You can't redeem what was never yours. There might also be a connection to the 30 year age of Levitical service.

Family ties, clan and tribal membership, nationality... These are important concepts in God's plan. They aren't everything, but they are far from nothing. Why did God formalize the divisions between tribes and clans in Israel in Numbers 1-3? Why not emphasize unity instead?
Boundaries are important. Good fences make good neighbors. God also creates opportunity for conflict so that we can practice empathy working it out.
Its a beautiful day here! I hope everyone is having a good day as the end of the week is almost here! There is so much of Yah's abundance tocelebrate and give thanks for! I've been brought low in my past, but Yah always provided exactly what I NEEDED, even though it wasn't what I wanted. Ive always had some kind of weather proof shelter, and at least one meal per day. I havent always had transportation, but I've always found a way to make things work, even if I had to walk til I dropped & a stranger picked me up. Yah provides, always, and always at the proper time. Appreciate the little things, then you will receive bigger things. His greatest blessing is His Word: the Son and Scripture both. If yyou have nothing else, always have a copy of His Word. It will pull you through many hard times. Praise Yah!
