Some would try to convince us that certain events in the Bible are able to be explained by the ignorance of the ancient superstitious cultures. One of these is found in Matthew 27:45, “From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land.” there are those who think this is nothing more than a solar eclipse, however the totality of darkness during an eclipse only lasts for a few brief moments, not three hours. We could speculate that an extremely heavy cloud cover could cause an extended period of darkness as well. How our Creator chooses to accomplish the things He does is His choice. There is information not included in the passages that describe this event that would reveal what the cause of the darkness was and lack of information is where legends and traditions are born.

If I remember correctly, there are historical records of a darkness showing up all over, not just there. That could not simply be cloud cover. Now that, but I've also read it was a darkness you could feel not just see. ?‍♀️

Thought for Today: Friday April 05

You must not to pray for an easy life – you must pray to become stronger person. You must not pray for tasks according to your strength but rather pray for strength according to the tasks.

Eating with dirty hands doesn't defile a person. It never has. There is nothing in God's Law even remotely like that. However, defying God by eating what he has prohibited *does* defile a person.

If your heart is clean, the actions which stem from your heart will be clean. If your heart is defiled, your actions will be defiled as well.
Mark 7:14-23

The book of Ezekiel chronicles the last days of Judea before being sent into exile in Babylon for 70 years. They were sent to Babylon because they kept following the false gods of that nation. God effectively told them, "You want to follow those gods? Fine. Choke on it." The book of Revelation calls believers to "come out of her, my people" which means for each of us who follow Yeshua (aka Jesus) to refuse blending paganism into the faith once delivered.

Many of us have broken from mainstream Christianity because it's a mess with pagan rituals like Sunday, Christmas, and Easter. If you're feeling the pull to separate from the paganism in Christianity, you're not alone. I'd encourage all to learn the truth of your rituals before the Messiah returns. Nobody wants to hear "depart from Me, I never knew you."

Many of the Hebrew words for unclean birds listed in Leviticus 11 are of uncertain meaning. Tradition and translators have made some pretty decent educated guesses, though. In general, you can bet that long-legged wading birds, large flightless birds, and any birds that subsist primarily on prey or carrion are unclean. Some people say that all web-footed birds are unclean, but I don't think the text supports that.

Have you maybe have any material or thought on chickens as in past years I have through about it, but never came to an answer on whether they are definitely clean?

I know first-hand that they refuse to eat slugs and large larvae of large dung beetles, but they still eat other worms and meat with blood in it.

From my recollection, only forbidden birds are listed. Duck and chicken are not listed, and are therefore clean by default.

The CSBS crew has been working our way through Paul's letter to the Romans in our Thursday night Bible study. We're taking the month of April off, but we'll resume with Romans 9:8 in May.

In the meantime, you can review my notes on Romans here:

Call me crazy, but I don't mind the smell of odious Maximus. Of course I've never had my car sprayed. But I have driven through where odious Maximus had obviously just been.

We call him Pepe Le Pew. Of course, that means we're always assuming it's a male. But then, we know males tend to be stinky. ??
