Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock shall remain in the land that Moses gave you beyond the Jordan, but all the men of valor among you shall pass over armed before your brothers and shall help them,
Joshua 1:14
A man's calling may at times require him to put his family and possessions at risk. The tribes east of the Jordan had to trust God to watch over their families while they crossed over to assist their cousins. The road that God has marked out for us is frequently difficult, but God's promises are sure. If he promises to keep us and our families in his protection, then he will keep them.
From some of us, God demands little. From others he demands everything. Our first task as husbands, wives, mothers, and fathers is to trust that his plan is transcendent, always leading forward to something better.
Remember the word that Moses the servant of YHWH commanded you, saying, ‘YHWH your God is providing you a place of rest and will give you this land.’
Joshua 1:13
If you want to have great things, help others get great things first. Part of a leader's job is to continually remind his people of their mission, their goals, and the words of God as given through his prophets.
Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan to go in to take possession of the land that YHWH your God is giving you to possess.’
Joshua 1:11
Leaders should be among their people, always watching, evaluating, encouraging, teaching. See Exodus 39:42-43 also.
Lily Portion for Today:
Martha, over-concerned with her workday duties, said to Yeshua "Adonai, do You not care?" How many faithful, loving mothers, overwhelmed by the burdens of motherhood, have cried anxiously, "Adonai, do You not care?" That question is answered in those reassuring words of Peter: "He cares for you" (1Peter 5:7). This is the Word of Elohiym. Even if the world passes away, it will not change. Ladies, you can be confident YHVH cares for you. If He didn't, would He have sent Moshiach into the world to die for you? Of course not! That is why you can always turn to Him for the strength and encouragement you need.
Thank you all for your prayers, cards and messages while we were tending to the passing of Myra’s mother. Your love and kindness are greatly appreciated. Psalm 61: 1—4, “1Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call out to You whenever my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been my refuge, a tower of strength against the enemy. Let me dwell in Your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of Your wings.”
