Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’”
Matthew 4:10
Schemers don't stop scheming. They are driven to test, undermine, and sow dissention. Once a person is revealed to be a schemer, never trust them again. (Which is not to say that you shouldn't forgive them.)
An excerpt from The Revelation of Jesus Christ Revealed, by Christine Miller.
The events of the first four seals, popularly known as the four horsemen of the apocalypse, are closely linked in meaning and time, for the same symbol, horses and horsemen, are used for all four. We will continue to encounter this precedent as we go forward in the book of Revelation.
And behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow. A crown was given to him, and he came out conquering, and to conquer. Rev 6:2
The first seal of the white horse, has a rider with a bow, who was given a crown, who rode out to conquer, and who did conquer. The Scripture equates the color white with righteousness (Psa 51:7 for example); bows and crowns symbolize military might and ruling authority; and conquering symbolizes territorial and political gain or expansion.
When we look at the events of history following the giving of this vision, we learn that the wicked Domitian was assassinated perhaps even in the very year the Revelation was given, but certainly no later than the following year. The emperor following Domitian was Nerva, who did all he could to repair the wrongs which Domitian had done.
Trajan followed Nerva, who had such a reputation for righteousness, that when a new emperor was approved by the Senate, they charged him to “reign virtuously as Trajan.” Under Trajan the Empire attained its greatest extent.
Hadrian followed Trajan, who forgave all offenses, and whose motto was, “I have been made emperor for the benefit of mankind and not for my own good.” Antoninus Pius followed Hadrian, whose surname identifies his character. Marcus Aurelius followed Antoninus, who was the last of the “Five Good Emperors,” and whose philosophy in his book, Meditations, approaches Christian virtue, rare in the classical world. This period of righteous rule and the Pax Romana (Peace of Rome) lasted from 96 to 180 AD.
Historically the Church understood that the first seal, the white horse of righteousness, was fulfilled from 96-180 AD by the five righteous emperors of Rome.

But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Matthew 4:4
Satan tempted Yeshua, but God deliberately put him into a tempting situation. God is always in control. Satan will come when you are weak and discouraged. This is when your faith will be tried hardest. Study the Scriptures, know who you are in Adonai, and wait on Him. There's nothing Satan or man can do to you. When God's enemies attack His faithful, they are actually attacking Him. Trust Him and His plan.
Yeshua almost never said just one thing. Simultaneous depth and brevity are marks of a great mind. In Matthew 4:4 Yeshua didn't refute the temptation, but the motive behind it. Knowing your enemy gives you power over him.
