If you turn back your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight and the holy day of the Lord honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly; Is 58:13

Residence in a polite Court, society of literati of the first order, a just cause and an approving God, will add length to a life for which all men pray. -Thomas Jefferson

Do you need a little silliness to get you through your day? Let Mr. Mu help you get a laugh by attempting to destroy my Sukkot packing list. Okay, so it was a little provoked but, this cat is so old and cranky that he'll attack a person's leg just for being within his reach. (<

Mr. Mu, the onry orange tabby, attacks a notebook because it has the nerve to move while he was laying on it.

Our sweet Naomi got to read the Shema, this morning. The first time she read it, she blew me away. I had no idea she would be able to read it on her own! Now, she barely had to look at the words because it's been so we'll written on her heart!!! What a blessing it is to share Yah's Word with our little ones!!!

I love this. It really puts things into perspective- we're not taking a break, we're not being lazy- we're obeying YAH by resting. We're essentially recouping our minds and bodies for another fruitful and productive week. We're allowing ourselves to recover from the last week so we can best perform and serve Him for the next week! I'm very Type A so the concept of resting came very slow and difficult for me. It took a lot of pruning to realize I shouldn't garden on Shabbat. "But, it's something I enjoy so it's not work, right?" is what I would convince myself. WRONG! Now, I make sure all of the weeding, harvesting and watering is done BEFORE Shabbat and have to actually rest- sit down, lay down, physically recover, which is especially important for me, as I have physical ailments along with chronic pain and fatigue. My expectations for myself were so high that I wouldn't allow myself to rest. Now, I understand and accept that I'm honoring Him by doing so. For me, it took understanding that to actual give myself permission to just rest!

Hosea 14;1, “Israel, return to the Lord your God. Your sins have caused your ruin.” Hosea’s warning to return to following the Creator’s instructions is for the people as a community. They had rejected His instructions and the only way for them to be restored was to give up the pagan traditions they had adopted and follow the way of the Creator.
