The prophecy in Jeremiah 2 is directed to all Israel, even the 10 tribes who had already been scattered by Assyria.
Israel was holy to YHVH, the firstfruits of his harvest. All who ate of it incurred guilt; disaster came upon them, declares YHVH.

It doesn't matter how corrupt Israel might be, they remain God's chosen people. (I'm not talking about a religion or a political entity, but the descendants of Jacob, no matter where they are or what religious label they have adopted.) It is a terrible thing to be used by God as an instrument to discipline Israel. Handle with care.
