I'm not a fan of New Orleans. The fascination with dead people, voodoo, and relishing in unclean food reminds me of the later parts of Isaiah 66. Alas, here I am in New Orleans for a business trip. While going through antique shops with my daughter, I stumbled upon a display of mezuzot. The shop owner knew it to be something "Jewish" and completely out of place surrounded by 18th century French furniture and artwork. So I explained what a mezuzah is and how it is tied to the Greatest Commandment, the Shema. And then bought one just because it's the first time I've ever seen one in any store! My daughter picked it out. Just saying.
Thought for Today: Thursday May 26:
Affliction can be a means of refining and of purification… We might never have had the songs of Fanny Grosby had she not been afflicted with blindness. George Matheson would never have given the world his immortal song – O Love that Will Not Let Me Go – had it not been for the pain of personal tragedy and heartache. The – Hallelujah Chorus – was written by Handel when he was poverty-stricken and suffering from a paralyzed right side and right arm…
Whatever the reason, if YHVH allows affliction on your life, take it in faith as a blessing and not as a curse. Keep on praising and thanking Him for every situation, how difficult it may be.
Does Grammar make you cry? No need! Our simple method makes sense, not tears -- and it uses only Scripture, which means it makes Biblical thinking, too. It's included in a Homeschooling Torah membership, or grab it by itself at Foundations Press:
