“A psalm. A song for the dedication of the house. By David: I will exalt you, Adonai, because you drew me up; you didn’t let my enemies rejoice over me. Adonai my God, I cried out to you, and you provided healing for me. Adonai, you lifted me up from Sh’ol; you kept me alive when I was sinking into a pit. Sing praise to Adonai, you faithful of his; and give thanks on recalling his holiness. For his anger is momentary, but his favor lasts a lifetime. Tears may linger for the night, but with dawn come cries of joy. Once I was prosperous and used to say, that nothing could ever shake me — when you showed me favor, Adonai, I was firm as a mighty mountain. But when you hid your face, I was struck with terror. I called to you, Adonai; to Adonai I pleaded for mercy: “What advantage is there in my death, in my going down to the pit? Can the dust praise you? Can it proclaim your truth? Hear me, Adonai, and show me your favor! Adonai, be my helper!” You turned my mourning into dancing! You removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, so that my well-being can praise you and not be silent; Adonai my God, I will thank you forever!”
Tehillim (Psa) 30:1-13 CJB
Something to think about today:
Much that is called Bible study is not actually Bible study at all. == Satan kept men for years from any interest in Bible study, but now that there is a great and growing interest in studying the Torah, satan keeps people from real study of the Bible. Questions about the authorship, date, end times, prophesies etc., of the various books of the Bible -- in the Bible and those left out, -- are both interesting and important; but studying these things is not studying the Bible. Dwight L Moody once asked a graduate of a great university why he did not give his life to teaching the English Bible. The young man replied, "I don't know anything about the Bible." "Why," Dwight Moody asked and then said, "you have a high priced professor employed in your university just to teach the English Bible." The young man answered, "Sir, would you like to know how we study the Bible? We have spent the last six months trying to find out who wrote the Tanakh, and we know less about it now than when we began." That was not Bible study.

Thought for Today: Sunday January 23
Elohim is your Heavenly Father. Listen to Him! Learns what it means to be a child of the Everlasting King Most High. Your richest duty is devotion to Him. This duty is such a joyous privilege that it feels like a luxury. You tend to feel guilty about pushing back the boundaries of your life to make space for time alone with Him. The world is waiting to squeeze you into its mould and to crowd out time devoted to Him. The ways of the world have also warped your conscience, which punish you for doing the very thing that pleases Elohim most: seeking His Face. Listen to Adonai above the clamour of voices trying to distract you. Ask Ruach HaKodesh to control your mind and your heart. Be still and attentive in His Presence – You are on Holy Ground!
Really good commentary of this shabbat’s Parsha

Obviously we don't get into the Kingdom of Heaven simply by doing good works, or do we? We rightly claim that salvation is by God's grace and mercy, but then we look down on those who stray into legalism, as we call it, by trying to do what the Bible says. Somewhere there's a balance between saying we're saved and not living like it, and living like we're saved, but having no peace. Maybe we find that balance by learning who we are, and Whose we are.
